When Tiwai Point was talking about closing, Plains Power were very proactive in contacting me to discuss the option of forward booking into these rates. We discussed what was happening and why, assessed potential risks (there didn’t appear to be many) and made a call. Their view was they had never seen pricing so cheap, I agreed, and we locked into a 4-year contract. Subsequently, Tiwai point stayed open, and prices skyrocketed. It certainly confirmed the great service Plains Power offer in being proactive and looking out for me as a customer.
